ScareBNB (demo) is a first-person horror experience inspired by PS1 horror classics. You're staying the night at a random house and something is immediately... off. Solve some puzzles to navigate your way through the game and try to avoid whatever it is that's after you... And what's going on in that cellar...?
*The download may be flagged by your Window computer as an unknown publisher, but you can click "Run Anyway" . I promise there is no malicious or dangerous content/software in my game! UPDATE (11/18/2023):
- Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who has checked out my game so far. The response has been overwhelming and I couldn't be more blown away. You guys are awesome!
- I've done some quality of life updates for the demo while I'm working on the full final game. Now the game reloads when you pick an incorrect hiding spot instead of completely closing the game, as well as added a "death screen"
UPDATE (11/14/2023):
- I've fixed a few of the bugs mentioned in the comments, as well as added more stamina and flashlight battery. I noticed people were running out much faster than anticipated.
PREVIOUS BUGS/ISSUES:
- When interacting with notes or the phone, your player may keep moving and cause a game-breaking bug (FIXED)
- The TV isn't properly displaying the shows, but sound still plays. (FIXED)
- Player would get stuck under the bed if they were moving while they hit the "Hide" key (FIXED)
This is my first game (demo) made in Godot so I'm sure there will be plenty of bugs and glitches. You can always press "ESC" at any point in the game to PAUSE and QUIT so any and all feedback would be appreciated!

This was a fun little Demo! The concept of staying in a creepy airbnb was pretty neat (who the heck wants to stay in some isolated house out in the woods like that?!😂). I'm looking forward to the full game.

I loved the mood of this game, pretty scary! Good job!
I adore the title card, the overall cheesiness of the premise and its scares, and a few moments are rather inspired (like the camera suddenly flashing after you find certain things). So far, the puzzles themselves are pretty simple, and the Demo doesn't show THAT much, but just enough to get you curious...
...until the ending. Personally, I find it far more intriguing when a Demo ends on a higher note. A strong visual, or a story development at the very least. And simply descending into a dark basement doesn't really do that. It just kind of deflates the experience so far, at least to me.
But still, this is just a demo, and you've definitely made me thirsty for more. Good job!
i'm SO excited to see what the final game will look like! i really liked this demo, and thoroughly enjoyed my playthrough despite some glitches during the puzzles
(biggest one: i had to restart because i used an unconventional hiding place that was not marked and i guess the game had no idea what to do? i couldn't get the axe because of this. i also had some issues with the piano puzzle/safe, to where i couldn't advance because the safe wouldn't open despite the puzzle being solved correctly, as you have to read the note in the same playthrough)
again, lovely demo! i am FERAL for the art style btw, it's so TASTY. can't wait for updates!

After you answer the phone and the cutscene is triggered, even if you're not under the bed but are able to avoid him, it should work, so I can't imagine why that would effect picking up the axe 🤔 hmmm thank you for bringing it to my attention tho!! :)

Actually surprised we got so much for a demo! The puzzles are simple but fun, and the sequences seem interesting. I esp like the closet reveal. Wish we could destroy that darn camera!!! Ahh! Looking forward to what's next. :)
